Enroll your Macbook (macOS), iPhone or iPad (iOS) for DNS Guard.

Updated over 10 months ago

Do you have a Macbook (macOS), iPhone (iOS), or iPad (iPadOS) and want to get protected by DNS Guard? It's very easy to enroll your device and get protected.

1. Download Apple configuration profile

  1. Go to the Installation tab of your DNS Guard server in the SecurityHive Portal and navigate to the Apple section.

  2. Enter a unique name for the device you want to protect (For example, John's Macbook).

  3. Click Download to generate an Apple configuration profile.

A profile with all settings will be downloaded. Open this profile on the device you've created and want to protect with DNS Guard. Make sure you create a different client for each device to keep an overview of the DNS queries of separate devices.

2. Apply profile

macOS

Open the profile file you've just downloaded. You will see the following notification appear:

Open System Preferences and navigate to Profiles.

Congratulations! DNS Guard is now protecting your device! You should see the first DNS queries appear within the SecurityHive Portal.

Remove protection

You can remove DNS Guard's protection anytime in the Profiles section of System Preferences. Click - and remove. You may need to enter your password to continue.

iOS

Setting up DNS Guard for your iOS device overall has the same process as macOS. Send the configuration profile to your iOS device and open the profile. Browse to Preferences and the Profiles section to install the profile.

Notes

Due to the technical design architecture of Apple, not all queries may be sent through DNS Guard and get filtered.
